5. Save your settings. The system will automatically reboot again.

6. The configuration will begin to load.

7. When prompted, press the R key to load the Recovery Console, recovery functionality.

8. Select your operating system to repair. For example, Microsoft Windows 7 or Microsoft Windows XP.

9. At the command prompt, type: Expand x:i386ntoskrnl.ex_c:windowssystem32

Note: In the above command, x refers to the drive letter assigned to your CD ROM. If my CD ROM drive letter is J, I’ll replace x with j like this: Expand j:i386ntoskrnl.ex_ c:windowssystem32

10. Press the ENTER key.

11. When prompted to overwrite the specified file, type Y and press ENTER.

12. Type Exit to close setup and reboot the machine.

Corrupted registry entries

The Windows Registry is a fundamental part of Microsoft Windows. Increased use of the registry causes outdated, invalid, or incorrect information to reside in the registry.

Bad sectors on hard drive

1. Open My Computer.

2. Right-click on a drive. For example, drive C.

Restore the system

It is also recommended to restore the computer and the registry to a previous state. Only choose a system restore point where the BSOD error with Ntoskrnl.exe is not displayed.

1.Click Start | All programs | Accessories | System Tools | System restore.

2. Select the option that allows you to restore Windows to a previous state.

3. Select a system restore point where Windows was working properly.
