Red and stainless steel accents to complement your red cookware and red pot rack

When it comes to decorating, many today prefer vibrant colors. If you have decided to decorate your kitchen and would like some help, you may love the few suggestions I would like to offer you. These suggestions will work with any colored stitching, but let’s say you’ve chosen one that is red, white, and black. A red kitchen is HOT and easy to customize. Red cookware along with a red pot rack would be perfect accessories to start with, but before we talk about accessories, let’s get the basics right first.

You can choose to paint your entire kitchen a shade of red, or just one main wall, but remember, if your current home is not permanent, or you may be thinking of selling your home soon; it would be nice to just paint the walls white. Before you paint, why not consider a glass mosaic backslash that has different shades of red? For some ideas on how to decorate your kitchen with glass, visit: thinkglass.com. Get paint samples to help you decide which shades of red (found in glass tile) you’d prefer to have as your wall color. Your accessories can duplicate the other shades of red found on your backsplash. Also, a glass mosaic backsplash with a shade of deep red included with various colors could be another option. Some paint samples are a good size, allowing you to tape them to the wall(s). Let it stay attached to your wall(s) for a day or two. This way you can get a good idea of whether or not you want your walls to be that color.

For window treatments, try repeating the shade of red in your red accessories (cookware and/or pot rack), in a valence. If you prefer a well-lit kitchen, it may be good to use white panel curtains. Also, how about doing a white marble tile floor with matching granite countertops and black appliances? Featuring a black and white design, your red accessories are sure to STAND OUT. You can find the perfect flooring at daltileproducts.com. For countertops visit: asgranite.com or silestoneusa.com. Remember to remove any clutter on your countertops, which would detract from the overall look of your kitchen. If your kitchen cabinets need a left face, visit signaturecustomwoodworking.com.

With the basics laid out, try playing around with additional touches to see how they would provide the perfect look you want to achieve. For example, black wrought iron would work well, as would stainless steel. Stainless steel is a popular choice that is more contemporary and has a clean look. Black wrought iron is also popular, however it is not contemporary.

Don’t forget to use plants, which will give a warm touch to any decoration. If you don’t have a screen over your kitchen cabinets, a plant, or two, or three (depending on space) will work just fine. Some would prefer artificial plants, in secluded areas, to eliminate the care that live plants would require.

If you have a large kitchen, try creating symmetry by placing a tall floor plant in the center of a wall that is only 7-8 feet long. Hang a semi-circular or oval pot rack on one side of the plant, and some neatly arranged small to medium sized images on the other side of the plant. Rather than a grouping of small to medium sized images, you may prefer a medium to large sized image. You will have to play with the placement of these objects to see what catches your eye.

I hope these suggestions have been helpful to you, so happy decorating.
