The South Pacific – Water Sports in Fiji

There are so many things to do in Fiji that there simply isn’t time to see and do everything in a few days. The best way to see Fiji is to spend a couple of weeks there, but even better if you can afford to stay for a month or even longer.

The most prominent feature of Fiji is the water. There are beautiful beaches, coral reefs, atolls, lagoons, lakes, rivers, waterfalls that seem to come out of Paradise and many more. For this reason, the water sports available in Fiji are some of the best in the world.

scuba diving

Diving in Fiji is very popular. Beginners can often be seen on the beaches snorkeling near the reefs and rocks, exploring all the underwater life. You can dive offshore or in some of the inland lagoons and even lakes that offer a great diversity of marine life to gaze at in awe.

deep sea diving

Deep sea diving is a bit more intense, but anyone can learn the basics with just a few days of instruction. He will spend most of his time with an experienced diver and deep sea guide, who will teach him all about the marine encounters he is likely to have. You will learn all about marine life, tides, currents, the ocean, lagoons and lakes. You’ll also be exposed to a lot of history, as Fiji has several famous shipwrecks that you can dive and explore. Who knows, you might even find a treasure chest!

Deep sea diving tours in Fiji also offer shark encounters in special cages, swimming with dolphins. For the more adventurous, it is also possible to learn how to dive for pearls and it is even possible to receive a diving instruction certificate after one hundred hours of diving experience.

To fly

Skydiving or paragliding is also a fantastic way to see Fiji. Strapped to the back of a speedboat on a parachute, you soar 300m high in the air and have gorgeous views of the ocean, islands, and silver sand in between.

Boating and jet skiing

Boating opportunities abound in Fiji. You can rent a small private boat for just a couple of friends, take more public boats to certain popular islands, take a glass bottom boat to see the reefs, rent pedal boats, row boats, go fishing on a boat: the jackpots are infinite.

Jetskiing is also a very popular activity in Fiji. There are single and 2 person jet skis and you can really experience the best waves this way or race down a river or across a lagoon.

surfing and friends

Surfing, banana boating, wakeboarding, water skiing and sailing are all opportunities to take on Fiji. Any of these activities are very affordable and you can rent all the equipment for the day or buy your own. You can even take lessons in all of these activities throughout the year. Fiji’s weather is always perfect.
